We needed a new calculator to replace a broken one. My wife asked for one a bit larger than the previous one so it could be read a bit easier. I found this one while searching Amazon. It had the basic features we needed, the numerals were a decent size without being too big, and the price was great. It arrived in decent time and without any damages. This is not a scientific or plotting calculator; it's just a basic function calculator for simple use, i.e. balancing the checkbook, figuring square footage, etc. Its buttons are nicely sized and work properly. The digits are bright and easy to read. This isn't anything fancy, just a well made calculator. I would recommend it for your home bookwork needs.

This calculator is actually better than the product listing gives it credit for. That is pretty rare. I'm referring to the display of the calculator. In my picture, you can see that the display actually shows more information than just digits. It also shows you what function you have pressed (e.g. addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, etc…). The next good thing about this calculator is the feel of the buttons. They are soft enough so I don't have to apply too much pressure to register a press. There's a satisfying soft click feel and sound when you press the buttons. I only have 1 minor issue in the calculator that was shipped to me which is the "0" button will stick slightly if I press it along the bottom left corner. This doesn't seem to affect anything because I can still keep pressing any other button and keep going on my calculation. Then the "0" button pops right back with a second. I also find that this calculator is quick and the display is positioned at a good angle that makes it clear and easy to see the numbers. I can't tell if this is due to the solar panel or the L1131F button battery that's installed. The brushed metal finish gives the calculator a nice look. This metal layer is only on the top half. The bottom half of the calculator is a gray plastic. Then you have some rubber sticker feet to keep the calculator from slipping around when you use it.

This desktop calculator is super handy! I use this for bank balancing, so nothing too fancy or difficult. This calculator is well made and functional. The screen is easy to see, and the buttons are responsive. There’s nothing negative about this mighty computing machine.

Definately not for a desktop calculator........much too small. More like a pocket calculator. Loser!

I was in need of only a simple desktop calculator to quickly reach for some basic arithmetic calculations and this device fits the purpose and more. It’s a medium size calculator (but not as bulky) with measurements of 4.5 in x 5.5 in. The digital readout is angle elevated for easy view and supports of up to 12 digits. It comes in a nice box with a manual which can be used for gifting. Its exterior design is quite nice and professional looking with a combo use of black and grey colors for its body and keys. The calculator operates both on solar light or via an already installed cell battery. When not in use, it auto powers off to save power. The solar use is quite sensitive to the amount of light around as I tested it by removing its battery. This is much better than my previous calculator whose solar cells require much brighter surrounding light in order to operate. Besides the basic arithmetic functions, it has a few other functions which I find to be quite useful. The delete shift key allows backtracking to delete the last entered digit instead of clearing the whole number entry. The memory add/subtract/recall features which are found in most basic calculators. The grand total (GT) allows the summation of multiple successive arithmetic executions. And the markup (MU) to calculate the percent markup of a base price. These additional features (except the memory) are usually not found in most other simple calculators. Its price point is also very attractive. Great product.

Okay, I really don’t know how to evaluate a calculator beyond … it does it’s job. The instructions were a bit small, but that seems par for the course for a lot of products. I did some basic arithmetic and the answers were right. I haven’t had a solar powered calculator since the 90s, so it’s fun to have one again. It’s a sturdy device and was in good shape when I got here. Packaging was protective.

Works very well and is sleek looking.
